Steel Processing & Milling

Steel production has formed the basis of the Hamilton economy since 1910 when the Steel Company of Canada was founded by Max Aitken.  Throughout the early to mid 1900s, the two major plants in Hamilton, formerly Stelco and Dofasco, were bastions of innovation for both steel processing and general metallurgy.  Now operating under US Steel and ArcelorMittal trademarks, respectively, the plants were the first in the country to introduce hot strip mills, basic oxygen furnaces and galvanizing lines.  Due to their influence, the entire city of Hamilton and much of the surrounding area has evolved to post-process steel into consumable products.  As consumer and industrial needs change, the products these post-processers produce also change, but much of the original machinery installed throughout the early 20th century is still in operation.  Present day environmental, efficiency and safety standards require modern innovation to be incorporated into these machines/systems so they continue to operate according to industrial best practices.  This presents a unique opportunity for us at MacroMotion in which we can supply, design, and/or perform the upgrades, while maintaining the legacy technology so it continues to operate in the long term.  Since our conception in 1986, we at MacroMotion have supplied and serviced steel mills more frequently and consistently than any other industry/sector.  Please see our case studies below for detailed examples of some of our past projects.
